It really did make me think.

\nEach fortnight I think to myself "what can we do in the computer suite that will be beneficial to the children?" And the children and I learn together. I give them the basics and then we explore together.

\nThe children catch on so quickly with new ideas in technology. For me, I need to explore by myself and see what I can do with a new programme. At times it is frustrating, but we tell the children that they are not learning if it is always easy...and this applies to us too!
\n
\nThis is what we will need to do with an interactive whiteboard. It will take time to use it to its full potential. And there will be lots of experimenting and sharing ideas (and some frustration too probably!). I'm keen to have a go!!!

New resources take time and exploration; I think this applies across the curriculum areas. Think about the changes in Math teaching as we've moved into using the numeracy project, it has taken time and there is still always more to learn. And what about those teachers that have taken on Chunk, Check, Cheer. Yet another tool to put in our teaching kite. There are many other examples of new programmes and resources constantly being implemented into classroom teaching. To get to and use their channels for learning, technology is needed in the classroom.
\nAs a teacher I have the obligation to follow the thinking of the present generation, even though this might not be my original way of thinking. A total change is not necessary (we elderly people have a lot of offer in different ways), but adaptions can be made. The data projector installed in the classroom may be one way, the interactive whiteboard another.
